The project needed to be completed in 2 distinct phases: install the deep pilings required to support the post and interpretive panels, install the reclaimed pavers. The purpose of two phase approach was to ensure that the sub base was compacted appropriately around the newly installed pilings, this is imperative to get right as it forms the base of the paver installation. If it was not perfect the project would have been a disaster.

Key Design Features

Pro-Active Solution

We worked closely with the City of Fernie to accomplish this project within a allocated budget. The decision to utilize reclaimed pavers facilitated lower material costs and our team was up to the task. It can be a struggle to repurpose or reuse construction materials but very rewarding if the end product is successful.
